FAQ

Which is better: Hardwood or treated pine?

The choice is yours! Creating a space that complements the home and the lifestyles of the occupants isn’t a one size fits all approach, which is why we stock a number of choices for timber decking. Treated pine is ideal if you want an affordable and durable deck that stands the test of time. It has been treated to resist fungal and termite attacks, and it’s also lightweight and easy to handle.

Hardwood timber, on the other hand, offers an indisputably luxurious finish. With a wide range of species, stains and oils, there is sure to be a colour and texture that suits the space – including light ashes and blondes to deep chocolates and rich reds.

Which timber will best suit my application?

To ensure your timber decking matches the space it’s being built in, we recommend choosing a material or colour scheme that is found throughout the home. For example, if Merbau furniture or flooring features strongly throughout the interior, then that can be bought out into the al fresco area for a cohesive look throughout. Alternatively, if there are exposed Red Gum beams either indoors or out, then using a timber that has a deep red base is an excellent way to draw the elements of the home together.
